Georgie Shoop

Age: 21

I'm from Kittanning, PA and I have loved art for as long as I can remember. I started to really develop as an artist in high school with the inspiration and help of my high school art instructor, Robin Lemmon.

I went on to study Art History and Art Administration at Seton Hill University, currently in my third year. The more history I study, the more my own work changes. I’ve developed a love for iconography. I admire the abstract expressionist, leading figures like Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock. So my personal thoughts, balance, struggles, and values definitely affect my work directly. I too very much admire and place importance on my process of creating and meditating with my work. I see this outlet as a healing tool and use it to my advantage.

Hobbies/interests outside of visual art:

Yoga, hiking, camping, baseball, spending time with family

I’m slowly seeing the arts peek through more and more in and around my hometown. I really appreciate and applaud the people bringing it to the surface because it’s important. I hope to see more collaboration between people. Its apparent there are folks who know the power of art and want to share it. Together, bigger things can happen and bigger changes can be made. I think we’re slowly on our way.
